E-mobility - Feasibility study for electric vehicles in company fleets in Oldenburg and Groningen

Members of the Oldenburger Energiecluster (OLEC) started a working group in e-mobility back in 2011 and developed an electric mobility concept for Oldenburg. The general idea was to provide ‘new mobility' by combining the concepts of car sharing with electric drive. The results were presented at the HEC workshop in Oldenburg in July 2012. The interest in e-mobility in Oldenburg as well as in Groningen led to a transnational cooperation within the project E-MOGen.

Within the project different companies and institutions had access to electric vehicles. The organisation and distribution of the cars, as well as the performance and evaluation of a survey was realised by students in Oldenburg and Groningen. Originally, Oldenburg and Groningen were to use just one car each, but because of considerable more interest by the partnering organisations this number was doubled.

As result of the project knowledge about the acceptance of electric cars in a vehicle fleet environment was gathered. Further¬more the expectations and experiences of the users with the electric cars has been documented and evaluated. Another aim was to receive information about the special characteristics of the cars and how the cars cope with the challenges of daily use, especially in winter.

The results have increased experience and knowledge in e-mobility and can be used in further projects in the field of e-mobility.

PLANET's role

PLANET, as a leading partner of the working group in e-mobility, initiated the project and was leader of the management and coordination activities in E-MOGen.
